Located on the South Coast of NSW, Ravensthorpe is a grand 19th century home purposely restored to cater for life’s celebrations.
With its 1890s Manor House, Bridal Suite, award-winning grounds, pool, tennis court and purpose-built reception location, Ravensthorpe is the ideal location for your destination wedding, event or corporate retreat.
Guests are welcome to enjoy our property, which is yours privately for the period of your reservation giving you the freedom to plan your wedding or event unlike any other.
Since 1893
THE CONSTRUCTION
Built as a family home for the area’s first physician Dr Arthur Wigley Bateman, his wife Anna Louisa and their 11 children.


1907
THE FIRST WEDDING
Mary Bateman, the eldest daughter of Dr A. W. Bateman, married Jack “John” Raftery on the 30th of January. The wedding reception was held at Ravensthorpe.
1920
THE RAFTERY FAMILY
Jack “John” Raftery purchased Ravensthorpe from the Bateman family and the property became the family home for John, Mary and their 5 children.


1967
THE NEAVES FAMILY
The Neaves family purchased Ravensthorpe from the Raftery family as their family home.
2000
THE RESTORATION
Purchased by Illawarra Heritage Accommodation Pty Ltd and fully restored with the addition of commercial catering facilities designed to cater for the celebrations of the people of the Illawarra and beyond. Jim & Deborah McCallum and partners created a beautiful place filled with magical moments for many to enjoy through their exceptional, friendly service.


2022
BARRINGTON GROUP AUSTRALIA
Barrington Group Australia purchased the property from Illawarra Heritage Accommodation and have promised to continue to service the South Coast Community and beyond with Weddings, Events and all celebrations.
