Built as a family home for the area's first physician Dr Arthur Wigley Bateman, his wife Anna Louisa and their 11 children.
1907
The First Wedding
Mary Bateman, the eldest daughter of Dr A. W. Bateman, married Jack "John" Raftery on the 30th of January. The wedding reception was held at Ravensthorpe
1920
The Raftery Family
Jack "John" Raftery purchased Ravensthorpe from the Bateman family and the property became the family home for John, Mary and their 5 children
1967
The Neaves Family
The Neaves family purchased Ravensthorpe from the Raftery family as their family home.
2000
The Restoration
Purchased by Illawarra Heritage Accommodation Pty Ltd and fully restored with the addition of commercial catering facilities designed to cater for the celebrations of the people of the Illawarra and beyond
